New Opening?

I was thinking I should play the bird opening. Is it recommended? Lots of people don't know how to play it properly, so I thought I should learn it. What do you think?
At the level you play, it doesn't matter too much what opening you use. Opening theory is not the best way to improve. But there's no harm in it.
So here's what you'll run into:

There will be a lot of people in the world who may make blunders on your specialized line

There will be far fewer good players that do it

There will be an extremely small percentage of great players who do not have some preparation against gimmicks

The amount of players fooled by gimmicks (bad opening lines that are theoretically crushed) at the top level is even smaller.

The best chess is creating variations upon variations and catching your opponent offguard, but many chess players do not let the game go into such odd variations and may take preventative measures to avoid your lines entirely; so having it memorized is only half the battle, then you must apply it dynamically.

Good luck
I used to play the Bird Opening. It was fun but eventually I threw it out. These days I prefer the King's Indian Attack.

No. It matters always. BTW, can you please explain how you jumped to this conclusion?

Thanks and regards, Karl
To the OP:

I'm convinced that it isn't a bad idea to have some "footprint". If you like the Bird play it. Make a decision: Your opening - right or wrong. And less is more ;-)
