About me

From 2016 to 2020, I managed my own offline chess school (Russia, Saratov region), which was attended by about 120 children.
Since September 2020, all school classes have been transferred to an online format: lichess.org/team/modern_chess

I am the creator of a unique teaching methodology that I use during the training process. The lessons are aimed at the proportional development of the student's skills according to their playing level (tactics, strategy, endgame, opening), and they only include knowledge relevant for upcoming competitions.

Playing experience

International Master since 2012.

Best results:
- multiple-time youth champion of the Saratov region (Russia);
- bronze medalist of the Russian Championship among students and postgraduates as part of the Saratov State Socio-Economic University team in 2006 and 2008;
- winner of the international masters tournament, Russia, 2009.

Teaching experience

12 year coaching experience: progressed from being a coach in a local chess club to becoming the director of the online chess school.

Student results:
- a lot of champions and oher medalists of the children's championships of Russian regions;
- winners of the stages of the Children Russia Cup;
- silver medalist of Berlin under 8.

Other experiences

As an organizer and chief arbiter, I have conducted more than 100 local and regional offline tournaments.

Best skills

I teach understanding of chess strategy based on the original rules, which are the keys to the correct play in positions of a certain type.

In my opinion, the opening is not a set of variations with evaluations, but working schemes based on deep positional ideas that we study by analyzing key games of masters and grandmasters.

I am working on eliminating blunders in the games of my students, using my own antiblunder puzzle base, which helps the students to significantly reduce the number of blunders in their games.

Teaching methodology

For each student, I create an individual plan for independent work on chess, taking into account their goals and other commitments. Each week, there is checking the implementation of the plan and its adjustment.

In individual lessons, we:
1) analyze the student's important games. I draw their attention to the key moments of the game where they made strategic mistakes. All mistakes are recorded in a special spreadsheet, to which the student has constant access to repeat the material;
2) based on the first part of the lesson, I choose the optimal direction of work (strategy theory, endgame, opening variations, etc.) and we work it out in order to eliminate mistakes made in the future.
