[SUGGESTION] Option to disable in-game chat completely

This is a re-post from 2+ years ago:
lichess.org/forum/lichess-feedback/suggestion-option-to-disable-in-game-chat-completely

Back then, at least 14 users agreed with my suggestion.

I would still want this feature, even though I face much less chatting by my opponents nowadays (higher ELO implies less provocative behaviour, I wonder why...).

Please consider adding this feature. To quote myself from my previous post:

"I am aware of "disabling" chat by turning on the Zen Mode, but I would really like a feature which shows the other player that I have disabled the chat in a way that they can't message me at all.

Does anyone else feel the same same way? I just don't want to turn on the Zen Mode and wonder if the other player has possibly typed something in the chat. I just want to know that they can't type anything at all and that I'm not missing anything by not seeing what they have typed."

AFAIK, this kind of feature has not been added yet.

lichess isn't usually developed as a forum democracy. i.e. it doesn't matter how many users agree with your suggestion here.
So not only don't you want them talking to you, you don't even want the threat of them talking to you.

You sound like Nimzovich.
Genuine question: Why do you care if other people have typed or not? You can't see it regardless.

Because if they have typed in something while I'm not aware of it, I don't want to appear rude by not answering them. Better just let them know that I'm not capable of replying them.

I have noticed that as well, and better sportsmanship in general. Of course there are exceptions.

My theory is that a higher rating usually means more experience with the game, so maybe they are able to control their emotions better.
It doesn’t matter for me on what my opponents put in thee chat. Even if they trash talk.
If you dont like the ZEN mode , there is always a green colored square box beside the text that says "chat room" on which you can click and turn it to a white colored box which would not let you see the messages sent.
