Firefox is laggy :(

So i'm a big fan of their philosophy which is similar to lichess in a way however performance wise, firefox is just slower compared to chrome unfortunately and lags :((((((

anyone got any tips to improve firefox speed? i did deactivate the interface animations and a few other stuff zzzzz

I'm using Firefox with all animations and such and I'm not encountering lag.

I've tried switching to firefox twice now over the years but after a few weeks, you can just feel that overall chrome is faster .

Why don't you give it a try yourself lel

I'm using rather old computers which are not so powerful and I know that I shouldn't have 50 tabs open. Have you ?

Also, there's lots of howtos on the internet how to speed up Firefox. There's also some add-ons for memory behavior in Firefox.

p.s. Personally I would never switch to Google Chrome. Closed-source "evil" stuff :-)

I've tried Chromium, (basically the complete open source version of Chrome), a few times and the add-ons in Firefox really rock compared to Chromium.
I want good ad-blocking, NoScript and things like that.
In Chromium that doesn't work so well, and ... slows things down.

I always have approximately 20 tabs open, so it cannot be that. :P

Actually Mozilla is showing signs of being just another tech company. I don't trust them with my data. I just haven't found a replacement browser yet.
