Excellent chess site. Here's an idea. Maybe the devs and players can think about increased customization for critical time. Right now, a sound plays once when time becomes critical, which is excellent. What about expanding this and make it more customizable in preferences, so you can choose if you want additional audio alerts? To be able to turn on audio alert which counts down the last 10 seconds with a higher pitch for each second which gets closer to 0.0 would be ideal in bullet and blitz games imo, so you know when you better push wood and buy some time with increments.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, I'm always losing on time, you get lost in the game, it would be good to have clock which audibly ticks down
I think it's reasonable, as long as it's not a default. I can imagine a lot of players losing their concentration if it goes tick-tock when time is critical. But as an option for those who want it, fantastic.

But thanks for supporting the idea. Of course not default, but the /option/ of an audio alert clock counting down the last 10 seconds with higher and higher pitch (perhaps) for each second, so you don't have to look at the clock to know how many seconds there are left...I think that would be useful. I dunno. Put it on the back burner.
It would be nice if I had the option to change the warning time to 25 seconds instead of the last few seconds.

I support this, and think it´s a bit strange that admin hasn´t responded to this suggestion.
I can´t find anywhere in the settings how many seconds are left when the critical time sound starts. I played a game against the machine just to check it, and it appeared that the critical time sound started when I had only 5 seconds left!
It should be possible to customize the number of seconds left the critical time sound starts.
