Finally broke the 2000 barrier here ;)

Congratulations! I've mainly played blitz and am bouncing around the 2000 level - currently 2034.

Would be good to maintain and improve that position - the next step is to break into the top 1,000 lichess players

Onwards and upwards...
Won a couple more games, pushed my rating up to 2050 and my rank inside the top 1000 at blitz - next stop 2100? Fingers crossed!
Checking in here again. Seems like it took me forever to move from 1900 to 2000 level Classical, but now in a few weeks I'm up to 2119!. I'm not sure I understand it and expect I'll take a big tumble shortly, but at the moment I'm beating 2000 and 2100 players consistently.

Some observations and theories:
I am making fewer blunders which has always been the biggest factor in my losses. I rarely feel I've been outplayed unless facing an opponent 200+ pts higher. I don't play now when I'm tired, distracted, or drinking. I'm also playing fewer games and dividing my chess time more with tactics puzzles, trying to actually understand my opening repertoire (not just memorizing moves), studying my completed games, and reviewing annotated master's games.

At some point I'd like to play a rated OTB tournament again to see what happens. I haven't done that in over 15 years.
2000 rating is a good barrier. It means you play better than 90% of the players of lichess. I will share how I did it. Playing strictly my openings. All games played with the computer look. Switched to control 5 minutes. So how many parties were losing time. Solving puzzles and tactical problems.
I think I too will leave all my ratings at 2000 once I get there and move on to the slower time controls to really improve once I get the chance.
I broke 2000 + in classical, I was 2000 + in bullet and blitz but never in classical, which is more important for me :)
It took 4 months. Has anyone been able to get Lichess rating barrier?
I'm right here. My game is the same as 4 months ago. Not better or worse.
@voronn09 #19 Just ticked over 2200 in classical - I feel like I'm playing reasonably well for once.

Here's a couple of decent games I've played recently - I put a lot of pressure on my opponents in both of them and they cracked:

vs Pirc

(I liked the 5 queen moves in a row from move 16)

vs Sicilian

(my results are usually quite poor against the Sicilian, so was pleased to win this one)
