Tournaments for different rating levels

I like the current idea of open tournaments, in which a mediocre player like myself can go up against high-level players, who wouldn't normally even give me the time of day. But how about having some tournaments only for players below a certain level, say 1500? It would be fun for those us less skilled.
by the flip side of the coin, the option for floored tourneys (e.g. 2200+) would be welcome as well

Toutatis, I support the idea, though the programming for it might be the roadblock.

In the meantime, maybe the developers could create a couple of tournaments, bullet and blitz, for under 1500 and over 2200. Should be simple?

Thanks.
I see these as player created tournaments where they can specify any floor/ceiling of their choice

When you have tournaments with rating floor of 2300, you can give norms to players who achieve Tournament Performance Rating of 2600. After 3 norms, the player should get the Lichess Grand Master (LGM) title! There are lots of LM's right now. It's the time to introduce a higher title.
I have repeatedly advocated for tournaments with rating sections determined by the ratings of entered players. So sections could be "Open, U1835, U1621, U1389" etc.

The problem with tournaments with ceilings and floors is that sandbagging and boosting will occur...
In OTB tournaments I've seen section formats similar to what ToadOfSky is suggesting in #8. Something like "Sections of 8-15 based on ratings." where the players are evenly distributed into each section.

The problem would be having enough players in each section (to avoid waiting around 3 minutes for a pairing), while not having too many players in each section (as that could defeat the purpose of condensing the rating range) I'm not sure what that happy medium would be.
